GABRIELLE DENNIS | PROFILE
Gabrielle Dennis is a multi-hyphenate best known for her work in television as an actress on series like "Rosewood" (Fox), "Marvel's Luke Cage" (Netflix), and her stellar performance as Whitney Houston in "The Bobby Brown Story" mini series for BET. Although Gabrielle has been recognized as a dramatic actress and singer in recent years, she actually started her professional career as a stand up comedian and sketch performer in Los Angeles where she was discovered by Damon Wayans to star as a series regular on his short lived sketch show "The Underground" on Showtime. Other prominent comedy credits include "Blue Mountain State" (Spike TV), "The Game" (CW) and "Insecure" (HBO).
This year Gabrielle returns to her comedy roots in a major way as one of the leading ladies on HBO's "A Black Lady Sketch Show" where she credits Robin Thede (creator/EP) for the full circle experience as it was Robin who first met Gabrielle as a comedian and sketch performer at the beginning of her career. Viewers get to rediscover Gabrielle as a comedic actress alongside Robin and the rest of the talented cast assembled for this hilariously magical new sketch show. A Black Lady Sketch Show premieres August 2nd on HBO.
