Ashley Lawal is a freelance marketing consultant, web designer and Founder/Editor of Urbaanite, an urban city guide sharing Nashville’s food, art, culture and happenings through the eyes of the people. As a Nashville native with some Midwest living in between, she has a natural proclivity to connect people (over food, stories and shared interests) whenever possible.

Much of her career has focused on building relationships, championing diverse communities, designing some pretty cool websites and executing multicultural campaigns for a few national brands.

After returning to her hometown upon graduating from Northern Illinois University, she noticed the city she knew (and previously could get around in 15 minutes or less)  was changing and there was a narrative missing - the urban professional. With so many people moving to the “It” city, she knew inclusion of diverse voices in local media was a must for a city to truly have growth and be a welcome place for all. If she is not seeking out new ways for people to explore the city, you can find her dining at the latest local restaurant, trying out recipes from some of her favorite blogs or spearheading her next group family trip.
